The first look takes place before guests arrive. It’s an intimate moment for the couple to see each other for the first time on their wedding day, as opposed to the traditional route of seeing each other for the first time when you walk down the aisle.
I love the first look because you get to capture an emotional moment on camera with the couple together. This is also probably the only time you two will be together alone before you celebrate your union together. The bonus of course is that you may get to join your guests during cocktail hour.
There are some downfalls too. You will have to be ready earlier and depending on the timing of your reception the lighting may not be ideal earlier in the day.
